Animal books
Animal books are great ways to get started on learning more about animals. Animals are so varied and different in
many ways (see interesting and fun facts about animals) that it's always fascinating to read more about them.
Read about where they live, how they survive, what they eat. I used to (and still do) love reading about animals.
If you are thinking about becoming a veterinarian then I would suggest you read all you can about animals and also
read books that veterinarians have written about life as a vet. Some things would have changed considerably since
these books were written eg James Herriot books whilst great and inspiring would record some things that are
outdated in the veterinary field, but the love of animals, the people and their characteristics don't change with time.
These are my top picks of animal books :
Animal books for younger readers :
| Sally Goes to the Vet by Stephen Huneck |
I want to be a vet by Daniel Liebman |
The Pet Vet by Marcia Leonard |
Puppy (ASPCA pet care guide) by Mark Evans |
Animal books for older readers :
| Opportunities in Animal and Pet Care careers by Mary Price Lee |
The ten trusts - what we must do to care for the animals we love by Jane Goodall |
Animal Crackers by Hannah Tinti |
One at a time - a week in an American Animal Shelter by Diane Leigh |

Feline Leukemia Virus - getting a new cat after another one has died from FeLV
My cat of old died a month ago from Feline Leukemia. The wife and I are thinking of getting a new kitten soon. How long should we wait before getting one? We don't want the kitten to get it too. We've steamcleaned the carpets and cleaned the house as much as we could. Is there anything else we should be doing? - Click
