Overweight cat5 months ago I purchased a 1 yr old pure-bred Abyssinian female to live with my 3 yr old pure-bred Burmese male. They get along very well together(both neutered and front declawed). Since she has started living with me and the Burmese, she has gained (what I believe) is a lot of weight. I have fed my Burmese "Royal Canin Slim" dry food for 2 years and he has been slim, active and healthy. She was very slim when she came home at age 1. She eats the same food. I have always allowed my Burmese to eat from a bowl when he chooses and he remains slim. She has grown very "thick." I saw the parents of this Aby and they were slim. She has a belly that droops like she has had multiple litters of kittens and she is barely 1 1/2 yrs old. She appears happy and healthy but not overly active (I'm used to my Burmese being extremely active and playful). I'm concerned because I expected her to be very energetic and slim. When I had her declawed shortly after bringing her home, the Vet remarked how "nice it was to see that they were both slim and active." My parents have a Siamese that was slim for many years but became much bigger in his advancing years and is very lethargic. I do not want this to happen to her- especially so young. Do I need to limit her food? And, if so, what is the best way to do this with a Burmese that eats very "sensibly" on his own? I don't want to put him on a dining routine since he is perfect doing what he's been doing for years. What is a healthy amount of food for her so she slims down? Thank you.
Cat with cut on backI am cat sitting for friends - and I was trying to remove several large mats of hair from the cats (12yo female neutered mix breed) back and I cut into the cat's skin. The laceration is about the size of a quarter. I cleaned it with hydrogen peroxide - today (next day) the area looks like it is swelling. Does it need to be sewn shut - or can I put an ice pack on the area and buy some OTC antibiotic ointment from a pharmacy?
Cat with scratches on head and neckI recently moved my 14yo male neutered domestic shorthaired cat from outdoors to indoors, and I have noticed an abundace of scratches, and scabs around his head and neck. he doesn't have fleas and never has had them. could this be because of old age or could it have anything to do with moving him into a different environment. what should I do?
Kittens diarrheaOur 6mo male neutered cat, Guffman, has developed some loose stool/ diarrhea in the past few days (it happens on and off). We have been feeding both out kittens (one is only 1-2 months old) the Nutro Natural Choice Complete Care Kitten food; Guffman was fine with it until a few days ago. I switched his food to the Paul Newman's Own Organic Cat Food, to see if that would help, but the loose stool has persisted. Also, Guffman has had, since we've had him, a lot of gas issues. Anyway, I was wondering what would be the best thing to do for him.
Cat constipationMy cat has had a problem for the last 3 yrs with elimination. His stool is so large that it is almost impossible for him to pass. I have given him a laxative for cats, I have had to digitally disimpact him. The problem seems to be growing worse as he ages. He is an indoor cat and I have taken him to the area vet once for this and it cost me a couple of hundred dollars for him to get enemas and stay overnight. The vet was called once more and he is the one that suggested the disempacting. I just can't stand doing that anymore. Is there anything else I can do to help him? I have been thinking of having him put to sleep . He is getting ill a lot, throwing up and as a nurse I know this isn't good for him. I just need advice from someone who isn't going to gain a lot of money from this so I can do what is best for him. The vet here is very expensive and does more then he should sometimes.Thank you for any advice you can give me.

Dog with fleas
Last night my 7yo female neutered maltese was scatching a little & I noticed that the day before she did a little too. I rolled her over to look through her and found a flea...then 2 more a little bit later. I immediately ran to the store and bought Sergeants flea control that you put on their back between the shoulder blades & put that on her immediatedly. I washed all of her bedding & have vaccumed the house at least 3 times since. We have a huge 2 level house and the dog is 99.9% of the time on our main level in our living room & dining room. I found only 2 today...and that was early this morning...I have not seen any since...but am scared to death of how many fleas are in our house that I cannot see. I am afraid they are crawling everywhere & don't know where to start. The dog sometimes goes upstairs in our bedrooms.....I am afraid these pests could be in closets & etc....any advice would be greatly appreciated! - Click
