Cat scratching and shedding dandruffMy 7yo female neutered cat has been shedding like crazy. The other day when I was brushing her. I noticed her skin appeared to have a substance that looks like dandruff. I checked her thourghly for fleas. I checked her beddin etc that doesn't seem to the problem. She is very itchy from this. It appears to be attatched to her skin. I have never seen any thing like this on her
Cat catching human coldsI have two 7 mo old female birmans. I came down with a cold and flu virus this week and now 5 days later they seem to be sneezing a lot. My first cat of 13 years never caught a human virus, and I thought this was impossible. My vet is out of town until Monday. Your advice? There is no eye discharge, or mucous from their noses yet. They have had all their shots and were spayed 3 weeks ago.
Cat sleeping with eyes openGizmo (15mo male neutered DSH cat) is one of three siblings we hand-reared from age 2 weeks, as his mother abandoned them. They have had all vaccinations, eat well, very active and healthy and are horribly pampered and spoiled. Last night, I noticed that Giz was asleep with his eyes open , so I tried to awaken him. I had difficulty and had to actually pick him up and gently shake him (he was totally limp), but he awoke and was fine, playing with his brother, eating, sleeping and litter box as normal, in no distress. He did this one other time before, at approximately 5 months of age. Was he just in a very deep sleep or should I take him to be checked? If he should be checked, what should he be checked for? He is just fine today.
Cat moving house and not adjusting wellMy cat and I moved into a new home. He now has three canine friends who he has spent time with before. One of the dogs was eating the felines stool, so I purchased the Purrforma self cleaning litter box. He would only urinate in it and chose to defecate on my side of the bed after 6 days. He attempted to defecate another time, I got him and placed him in the litter box, however that only worked once, and choose the bed again. Since then I purchased a new non automated litter box and returned him to his feline pine cat litter - that was two days ago and he has not eliminated anything sine. I have been leaving the bedroom door closed so he is not tempted. I'm just waiting for him to use it. any thoughts? Should I lock him in a confined area until he uses it? I need some advise or he might end up getting kicked out, and he is a special need cat as he has three fused lumbar (congenital defect.) He is also doing an excessive amount of licking to the point where he has two balding patches. He just had an allergy shot 4 weeks ago. Should I inquire about behavioral modification type drugs?
Feline Leukemia Virus - getting a new cat after another one has died from FeLVMy cat of old died a month ago from Feline Leukemia. The wife and I are thinking of getting a new kitten soon. How long should we wait before getting one? We don't want the kitten to get it too. We've steamcleaned the carpets and cleaned the house as much as we could. Is there anything else we should be doing?
Kitten with cord wrapped around legMy cat just had kittens approx. 6 hours ago. Some of the kittens still have the sac attached. The problem is the sac cord has gotten wrapped around one of the kittens legs causing it to swell up. Can I cut the cord? Should I untangle it? Please help! |

Dog afraid of thunder
Our 8yo English Setter (female neutered) in the past 2 years has developed a fear of thunder. She will try to dig the carpet, trembles violently and will jump on our laps to be comforted. Our male Setter doesn't mind the thunder a bit. I don't like the idea of using sedatives for her. Do you have any solutions? - Click
