Cat with possible hairball stuckMy cat (9mo male tabby domestic short hair) I think has a hairball stuck, and his breathing seems to be hard, and he is not eatting anything since this morning and coughs and acts like he wants to throw up but nothing is coming up, he is laying behind my bedroom door, he is usually with my older cat sleepin by him or playing and he is not doing either or, I tried a small 1/3 teas of oil, what else can I do to help my cat?
Declawing catsWe are thinking of declawing our cats (they are mixed breeds aged between 1-5 years old) and we have researched it with mixed results. We read that its amputating their toes and they will never regain their full balance or agility once its done and that its very painful for them and a long healing process, and then the next thing we read says that its just removing the nails and they heal quickly and it doesnt effect them at all. We want to know if its a safe procedure and doesnt effect our cats in a negative way. They are currently big furniture and wall scratchers and we've tried the furniture spray, buying scratching posts and clipping their nails and it doesnt help. is declawing okay or should we look for other methods.
Cat urinating on bedsMy cat (16mo Bengal female neutered cat) started to urinate on my beds about a month ago. So far she has done it 5 times (twice on my Guest Room bed where my niece sleeps when visiting and 3 times on my bed). She is very close to me and my niece. I have another 9-Month old female cat. Both cats get along well and play often. Both sleep with us frequently so it is not that she urinates on the beds all the time. Both cats are VERY clean and has never pooped anywhere close to where they eat and sleep. All 5 times happened after she discovers my 2nd cat sleeping with us. At 1st I thought its jealousy but I started to observe her habits and find that she is slowly losing weight (she used to be 2.8 kg, she's now about 2.3, 2.4 kg) and drinking more and urinating more. Otherwise she eats normal and I feed her canned food and dried food from Nutro, Evolve and Back to Basics, no change. She plays normal too, very energetic, sleeping habits normal.
Cat drooling excessivelyI adopted a male Maine Coon cat about 2 or 3 years old. The cat has a problem with excessive drooling. I checked his problem on the internet and the reason given was either a mouth or respiratory condition. I called the adoption shelter and explained my concern. I was told the cat had been adopted and returned because he was TOO AFFECTIONATE. They asked me to bring him in to be checked by their doctor which I did immediately. The doctor said he was healthy and could not find any problems. The drooling is so bad that we cannot hold or love him the way he should be loved. I am afraid that if he is returned again he will be adopted again and returned again and that would be very traumatic for the cat. Please give me your honest opinion as what to do. Thank you.
Cat with fleas and scabs around earsMy cat (2.5yo male Domestic Short Hair, neutered) is an indoor/outdoor cat. A few months ago my cat started getting fleas so I began treating him with generic flea medicine but last month decided to switch to Frontline topical medicine because everyone I know swears by it. It seems to have helped but fleas still exist. When he started getting fleas I notices that some bumps were forming behind his ears, which turned out to be what I believe are scabs, probably from itching. Those bumps/scabs have spread to parts of the back of his head, under his chin, and random places on his back and underside. Do you believe they are most likely just cuts/scabs from itching? If so, is there anything I can do/purchase to heal them. I thought that they would just heal over time but they seem to have just gotten worse. I brush him nearly everyday with a flea comb and it takes fleas and i am guessing scabs off. I tried not combing him for a few days to not disturb the scabs but that didn't seem to do anything. Anything you can tell me would be benefical. I can email you a picture I took of one of the areas but it is not the best quality. I look forward to your response.
Cat urinating with hint of pink possible bloodI noticed about 2 days ago my cat (7yo Domestic Short Hair male neutered) was making alot of trips to the litter box and then yesterday he urinated on the floor and the urine had a red tint to it.Then today he is still making often trips to the litter box and he seems to be having problems urinating, also I have found pink spots on the carpet in areas that he has been laying. His appetite seems fine and his behavior seems pretty much normal. I can't afford to take him to the vet and I was wondering if knew what the problem might be so I can try to find out how costly it will be and if this will lead to death if I can't afford to treat it. |

Cat losing hair with itchy skin
About a month ago my female neutered Siamese mix cat lost all the shine in her coat of long hair, and refuses to come into the house, preferring to remain in the garage. She is shedding her hair and it comes out in big clumps. The skin on her back near her tail is flaking off, like large dandruff, and the hairs have tiny black things on them near the base. This area is very itchy and when it is touched, she goes into an involuntary biting spasm. She also has small scabs on her skin spread all over her body. - Click
