Female cat with bloody discharge from vaginaOur (1yo female DSH) neutered cat (neutered prior to our ownership) has had intermittent small volume bloody discharge from her vagina for the last 3 months. On exam her vulva had an ulcerated area and our veternarian is planning an exam under anesthesia later this week. She has no weight loss, a healthy appetite, and has had no change in activity. She is the only animal in our home. What do you believe this could be?
Cat sudden change in behavior and hiding all the timeRecently something happened to my cat (3yo female neutered DSH) and I'm not sure what is wrong with her. She is very skittish and refuses to come out from under the blankets or her hiding places except to eat, drink and go to the bathroom. It's like she comes out and something scares her and she RUNS back to the covers. Usually she is a very docile and very friendly kitty. What usually causes this? Should I be worried and will it go away? She won't even come out for her favorite toys or catnip. I'm not sure what would have scared her so badly or is hurting her so badly. Another think I'm noticing is that she is licking her self a lot more than usual.
Cat urinating on bedMy cat (10mo male neutered domestic short haired cat) acts out by urinating on my bed during times he is unhappy with me or the his situation. For example, when I have guests ( I do frequently) he usually urinates on my bed . I recently took a 5 day trip ( he was very well cared for when i was gone) and he peed on my bed 6 different times. My question is this : how do I control this behaviour? I can not keep him out of my room since I live in an apartment with no doors and any how even if I did figure out how to keep him away from the bed I feel like he would just pick another spot to urinate. My vet has suggested kitty porzac but really, I would only like to use this as a very last resort. I keep the litter box clean and he knows how to use it. He lives indoors and outdoors since the apartment is small he seems to get pent up when I keep him indoors all the time . Do you have any suggestions? Thanks , I am really struggling with this. I will soon have to throw all my bedding away. P.S. I recently purchased and cleaned my sheets with the special animal stain cleaning product with enzymes.
Cat still pregnant after having stillborn kittensOur cat is pregnant (8mo domestic short haired female), about 2 weeks ago she delivered two still born kittens. She still appears to be pregnant. Is it possible for her to have lost a couple but still be carrying a few more. We did not think she was due till end of Sept (the kittens are 2 weeks early).
Cat urinating in houseI have 2 cats and they have lived together without a problem for almost 9 years. They have been through several moves and many other changes as well and have always been fine. Over the last 2 or 3 months, one or both have started urinating in various locations around the house. I've used Nature's Miracle to clean and remove the smell but that doesn't work. I've tried any number of things to stop this from happening and I am really at the end of my rope. What can I do to break them of this? They have a clean litterbox and they seem fine in every other way. Please help.
Cat with mass and growth on skullAbout 10 months ago, my cat (12yo female neutered DSH) was diagnosed with FIA. She was treated & cured of this. At the same time, I noticed a pea-sized mass on her left upper skull. The vet said this was nothing. The hard mass is now the size of a golfball. It has invaded her inner ear as well. A few months ago it was biopsied for cancer, but was inconclusive. It looks like pea-sized nodules are growing on the mass and is painful to touch. Her chest xray was negative. She is energetic, has a good apetite, and weighs about 10lbs. Her CBC & CHEM is normal. Could this be gout?? I am a nurse and this is just what the tophi look to me, but I am no vet. I was referred to the local vet school, but am reluctant to put her through the recommended scans & radiation therapy when I don't even have a "real diagnosis". I am just hoping it could possibly be a curable or treatable illness like gout. Thanks so much for your valuable service. |

Purchasing puppy with one blue eye
I am looking to purchase a Tibetan Spaniel puppy who is white and sable parti color. His left eye has a sable patch around it. The right side of his face is white. Instead of being black, his right eyelids are pink and he has a blue ring around his pupil. What has caused this? What problems may he encounter due to this? Is it hereditary? AND can it be passed on to his offspring? The breeder says he is not blind. Thank you!
