Cats and moving houseI am moving soon, and I'm moving off my island into the city. I have multiple cats (5) and need to find a way to get them transferred from my house to the new house. Unfortunately, there is a ferry ride on the way and i dont have enough carriers to have them all locked up. Is there anything I can buy to calm them down long enough (3-4 hours) to get them over there? and would it be safe to have them in the back of the moving van or should they be in the car with us?
Cat with hepatic lipidosis or fatty liver diseaseI wrote you yesterday about my cat (8yo female neutered tabby). She had Hepatic Lipidosis, and you had mentioned getting to the underlying cause, which is not medical, she had every test in the book, and has no other problems, but we had moved the food bowls, due to some construction, and we think that did it! My question is, how long does it take on the average, after this condition, for a cat to get back to eating like they did before? I hadf said in my last e-mail, that she likes Iams dry food, but she also loves Pounce treats, and sometimes deli turkey.Shall I let her have whatever she wants as long as she's eating?
Cat with Valley FeverMy cat (17yo male neutered DSH) has a large open wound on his fore leg that has been cultured and diagnosed as being infected with Valley Fever. Our vet has advised us to keep the wound clean and always covered and to avoid contact as the infection is contageous. We are giving Sam C-Fluconazole 25mg twice a day and have been advised that we may need to keep up this treatment for up to 6 months. So far after 2 months we have seen no improvement and the cat has lost much of his body weight. My concern is about the potential danger to our other pets and to ourselves from exposure to Sam. I am a diabetic and seem to catch things easily. I have been hospitalized on IV antibiotics for infections on two occasions. Sam has free rein of the house and yard area. He is often on the kitchen counters where food is prepared. Are we(ourselves or our dog) in danger of catching this infection from Sam directly or through his fecal matter or other contact? What precautions should we take to protect ourselves.
Cat tremblingMy vet has commented that my cat may have a neuromuscular disease, but did not elaborate on this. Milly is a lovely, friendly little cat (4yo DSH female neutered) and I would like some advice on anything I can do to make her life easier. She shakes when nervous or afraid and her front legs do not seem able to hold her up when this happens. She has trouble jumping on or off surfaces and does not attempt anything higher than the sofa, she is also slow going up and down the stairs. When eating, her front legs wobble and so she lays down to eat. She seems to snatch at her food. She often sits in an upright position with her back against a wall and her back legs splayed out in front of her. In addition, she has a sort of hiccupy breathing action which concerns me and she sometimes breathes with her mouth open. My vet did not seem too concerned but I love Milly very much and want to do the best for her so any advice you can give is much appreciated.

Cat losing hair with itchy skin
About a month ago my female neutered Siamese mix cat lost all the shine in her coat of long hair, and refuses to come into the house, preferring to remain in the garage. She is shedding her hair and it comes out in big clumps. The skin on her back near her tail is flaking off, like large dandruff, and the hairs have tiny black things on them near the base. This area is very itchy and when it is touched, she goes into an involuntary biting spasm. She also has small scabs on her skin spread all over her body. - Click
