Cat tremblingMy vet has commented that my cat may have a neuromuscular disease, but did not elaborate on this. Milly is a lovely, friendly little cat (4yo DSH female neutered) and I would like some advice on anything I can do to make her life easier. She shakes when nervous or afraid and her front legs do not seem able to hold her up when this happens. She has trouble jumping on or off surfaces and does not attempt anything higher than the sofa, she is also slow going up and down the stairs. When eating, her front legs wobble and so she lays down to eat. She seems to snatch at her food. She often sits in an upright position with her back against a wall and her back legs splayed out in front of her. In addition, she has a sort of hiccupy breathing action which concerns me and she sometimes breathes with her mouth open. My vet did not seem too concerned but I love Milly very much and want to do the best for her so any advice you can give is much appreciated.

Diet change in cat with urinary tract infectionMy cat has just had surgery for stones in her bladder, what sort of dietary change would I expect her to be on after?
Cat urinating outside litter boxRandomly, over the past 5 yrs Snickers (9yo female neutered tabby) has been voiding (urine)out of her box. Usually on my bed, in the same spot. Tried all the enzyme cleaners, but to no avail---still happening.Been to the vet--urinalysis has come always come back OK. They said it was behaviorial& wanted to try meds(elavil, or the like).I didnt want to try meds as first line b/c it was always so random---would happen for a few days in spurts ,then be fine for awhile. 6mos. ago I had my daughter & Snicks' was less that pleased--didnt really come out of my bedroom except to eat & use litterbox. She finally returned to her normal-pre-baby-self personality wise , but then she started again w/ the peeing on the bed. Took her to vet---once again urine OK. I put up a gate to prevent Snicks from going in the bedroom& all was well---for about a month. Then she started peeing on my couch, but not always.Would go in box , then later in the day--pee on the couch .We had the couch commercially cleaned & enzymed. Didnt matter. Then one day she peed where my daughter was sitting & I had had it...back to vet---"run tests & I want meds NOW!!!" Took blood to run panel to see what meds to use (she is also overweight)& vet was conferring w/ behaviorist. She decides to take an x-ray of the bladder & BOOM---there are bladder stones--very,very small, but theyre there--I saw them myself. Now they want to do surgery & remove & analyze stones.I know a diet chabge will probably be in order & that will be determined by what "kind" of stone it is What do you think of the reccomendation about the surgery??Do you suggest I take her for a second opinion (in person) , or does this sound like symptoms of stones & is surgey always the only option(w/o trying meds 1st)??? Also, I should tell you that she hasnt peed outside the box in about 1 1/2 week, but she has been pooping on the rug that is outside her box ( again...randomly) We scoop her box 2xs a day & have tried adding another box.I've never heard her cry or moan when she goes in box & all her other tests (ie. thyroid are normal)What do you think??
Cat with Feline LeukemiaMy sister gave me her cat (5yo male neutered Siamese) we found out the hard way he has Feline Leukemia. But that is not my question, my question is this he is walking funny from his hind quarters, sort of like a limp, and he has lost weight and is not looking as good as he was. Is the leukemia getting worse now and its affecting his hind quarters? I love him very much, we found out when my cat came down with it, I had to have all of my other one's checked and so far there is only the 2, him and my mixed breed. All the other's are doing fine, they are healthy, fat as can be, its just him that I am worried about. Could he possibly have broken his hip or something? My dog went after him once but when I checked him he was ok. Please help I'm crying my heart out for him. I love animals and when I see one in need it kill's me inside to see them hurt.
Cat with tumor on eartwo years ago, my 12yo neutered female white cat had surgery for removal of what was a cancerous condition on the tips of her ears. They would get crusty and then bleed. Both ears were clipped and she recovered nicely. She now has developed a tumor in her right ear which attempts to heal then she scratches it and it bleeds. I have taken her to the vet. She received an antibiotic injection and I am giving her oral antibiotics for at least 10 days. I am keeping the ear clean with peroxide - this lasts for 3-4 days without bleeding. My vet just re-checked her. Initially she told me and once more reminded me that she thinks she can remove the tumor but of course she cannot guarantee that it won't return. She did extremely well after the first surgery - two years later, I am faced with making the decision for surgery or letting the disease take its course. The surgery will take a good portion of her ear, which will no doubt leave her inside ear exposed somewhat. I realize that there are no guarantees and that my cat is quite old. I do not want to prolong her life if she is or will suffer. So far, she is congeniel and happy, she eats well though she is and has been slight of build. My question is, given your experience with animals with this type of condition, should I proceed with the surgery which I selfishly scheduled for Tuesday or should I let her be and ultimately make the desicion when we, my vet and I think she can no longer continue? My concern is that if the tumor is causing discomfort and although I see no signs of pain, is my cat suffering? I keep her clean and she continues to be the dignified cat she has always been. Will surgery improve the quality of life she has left or should I cancel the appointment and continue as I am, keeping her clean and comfortable - will the bleeding get more profuse? |

Female cat with bloody discharge from vagina
Our (1yo female DSH) neutered cat (neutered prior to our ownership) has had intermittent small volume bloody discharge from her vagina for the last 3 months. On exam her vulva had an ulcerated area and our veternarian is planning an exam under anesthesia later this week. She has no weight loss, a healthy appetite, and has had no change in activity. She is the only animal in our home. What do you believe this could be?
