Cat not eating after surgery
I need a second opinion....One week before my cat had stomach surgery (9/30/2003) my cat vomited everyday. This triggered me to take him to the vet. After x-rays of my cat, the vet discovered a piece of something 1" long 1/2" wide in his stomach. So surgery was scheduled and performed. I brought my cat home 3 days after surgery. I wanted to be sure all was fine with him before taking him home. I had him home one day and had to take him back to the vet. He was dehydrated and I almost lost him. The vet hydrated him and I was able to bring him back home in 2 days. My cat has not ate any food since 9/30/2003. I have tried force feeding him and all he does is gag when he smells the food and walks away and runs from me. The vet said he has ulcers in his mouth and that is why he is having problems and these will pass in time. He has an antibiotic I give him once a day and vitamins twice a day. My cat has spells of not drinking his water so I give him water by eye dropper when I give him his medicine and vitamins. My cat was 14 lbs. he is now weak and skinny. I've tried all sorts of soft foods, per instructions from the vet. But my cat is not interested. Is there anything more that can be done for my cat and his ulcers so he will eat? Also my cat's right eye has developed mukus in the corners and drains all the time and is half closed. I use a soft warm cloth to wipe this eye free of the mukus. No eye problems before surgery. Please let me know what can be done for my cat to get him back to being healthy again. I'm afraid I may lose him. He uses his litter box but he doesn't realize his bottom isn't completely in the box. Please give me your opinion and what else I can do. |

Cat recovering from hepatic lipidosis-fatty liver disease
My Silver Tabby (8yo female neutered) is now recovering nicely, from Hepatic Lipidosis, and is eating and drinking on her own.She now weighs 8 pounds, and is active and playful.I can feel her ribs, but they have a covering of fat, so I'm wondering, is this a good weight for her? She eats about a quarter of a cup of Feline Iams Adult Maintenance a day, and that has recently increased a bit.Is that enough? Most of the time when I'm at work, she sleeps, and is active in the evening. Thanks!
