Cat with chronic diarrhea
My 13yo male neutered himalayan cat has had chronic diarrhea (with occasional nausea/vomiting) for about a year. I have taken him to three veterinarians who have run various tests, including a sonogram of his GI system -- no apparent problems. The problem initially caused considerable weight loss. He responds, to an extent, to three milliliters Carafate (orally) three times daily, and occasional injection of 0.5 ML Metoclopromide (for nausea/vomiting (the latter makes him highly nervous))). He usually feels very well, has a good appetite, and keeps himself clean. Any suggestions for a treatment my vets may have missed would be deeply appreciated. |

Cat with sore on hip
Hi -- My 16 year old male neutered DSH cat has a sore on his hip area. It's been there for about 2 weeks. There's no fur left in the area, which is about as big as a half dollar, and it looks like there is puss. He doesn't seem to be in pain, he is not licking or biting it, and there are no blood or scabs. We have no idea what started it. It looks sort of like a burn would on a person (but it's not a burn). What, if anything, should I do about this? Is it worth calling my vet, or will it just heal in time? Is there an ointment I should be applying or some other treatment? Since he doesn't seem to be in pain we were just hoping it would heal. Thanks for your advice!
