Cat with hyperesthesia syndrome - twitch cat disease
My Bengal cat (2yo male neutered) is thought to have feline hyperesthesia syndrome. He is constantly rubbing up against thinks, licking his tail and lower back, darting off wildly and has a very sensitive lower back area. He rolls aroung on his back alot as though it is itching. When he was castrated at the age of about 9 months, he became terribly sick, he was taken to the vets and eventually found to have an abnormal swelling that had been caused by the operation. He was given anti-inflammatories and antibiotics and this seemed to clear but was left with a bald patch in this area (top of spine). He has displayed this behaviour for some time, hard to say exactly when it started. Could you please explain what this illness is and is it life threatening. I understand that medication can be given. Is the he in any pain? |
