Puppies losing hair in patches

My new puppies are losing their hair.  I have mainly noticed it on the puppies tails, but have seen it on the tops of their feet, sides of legs.  It is on the middle of 2 of the puppies tails.  The place is basically bald and on one of the dogs, a small growth similar to a wart is present (one of the dogs with it on their tail)  About 3 dogs have it on their tail and 2-3 more have it somewhere on their legs or feet.  One puppy just has a bald tip of his tail.  I have taken digital photos that I can email when I'm done with this.  The mom is a 3 yr old lab and I have never had any trouble with her, except when she was halfway through her pregnancy, I noticed a small round sore on her front leg about 6 inches above her foot.  It was circular and she kept licking it and it is finally healing now after 2 months.  The hair is finally growing back.  It was about the size of a quarter.  I have a 4 year old male (the dad) and he has never had any problems.  Also, we bought a female lab this summer, she is 6 months now.  I have seen her losing her hair on her forehead about the size of a baseball.  It is not quite bald, just thin hair.  As far as her medical history, when we first got her, she got real sick.  I took her to the vet and she told me that my dog had Parvo and had to be put on Iv's.  She almost died, but pulled through.  Maybe if she had parvo, she also carried something else to infect the dad and mom and the resulting litter?  I was wondering if this is ringworm or what else it is?  If it is ringworm, I've read that you can treat this lamisil, is this the fastest way to treat this.

Dog eating geckos

my Cairn terrier dog (4yo male neutered) chases geckos and can sometimes eat them. last night he went in house and the color of the stools had a lot of green. Are these geckos poisonous to a dog?

Dog with itchy skin and hair falling out in patches

I have had my dog's (11yo male neutered Samoyed) hair cut back for the summer months and have had a tick problem - have been using flea and tick shampoo, but in the last month he has been loosing his hair sometimes in patches and generally has thinning all over, plus a lot of scratching, but this seems to subside after a bath with the flea and tick shampoo.

Dog with swollen penis

My dog (7yo male Labrador) seems to be in some discomfort with with his penis. he is walking awkwardly as though he is erect and in some discomfort. his penis appears erect and to be very red and an occaisional drop of blood can be seen, although I cannot see where this is coming from. Ihave no way of contacting a vet tonight( we are in rural UK). My worry is that his penis does not seem a normal shape (more round and bulbus) than I have seen before and he may have some sot of prolapse/hernia. he is not distracted by food. I can take him to a vet in about 8 hours. Is this Ok to leave until then? He also is showing signs of being a bit of a randy old dog generally. am I worried about nothing?

Dog with shivering or trembling in hindlegs

P. J.'s (5yo male neutered Border Collie) hind legs--sometimes either, sometimes both-- often shake or "vibrate" while he's standing to sniff, eat, or sometimes while he's lying down.

Strangers who see this often think he's cold or nervous, but it happens very frequently and in very warm as well as very cold temperatures. It can happen anywhere, including home, the park, etc.

He's very healthy, active and affectionate.  This doesn't seem to bother him, but it worries me.

Can you provide some insights as to what causes this leg shaking?  Sometimes while he's lying beside me, I can feel the vibrations transmit through his back.  At other times, he doesn't shake at all.

Dog eating condom

My dog (4yo male Jack Russell) got into the trash this morning and ate a condom. Is it ok to wait till tomorrow to see whether he has a bowel movement (he's very regular so I will know if something is wrong) and if it comes out this way. OR should I make him throw up? I know how to do this using salt water or proxide....I wanted to see if there is anything I can do before I call the vet.... thanks!

Vet question of the day

Add to Dog with fleas
Last night  my 7yo female neutered maltese was scatching a little & I noticed that the day before she did a little too.  I rolled her over to look through her and found a flea...then 2 more a little bit later.  I immediately ran to the store and bought Sergeants flea control that you put on their back between the shoulder blades & put that on her immediatedly.  I washed all of her bedding & have vaccumed the house at least 3 times since.  We have a huge 2 level house and the dog is 99.9% of the time on our main level in our living room & dining room.  I found only 2 today...and that was early this morning...I have not seen any since...but am scared to death of how many fleas are in our house that I cannot see.  I am afraid they are crawling everywhere & don't know where to start.  The dog sometimes goes upstairs in our bedrooms.....I am afraid these pests could be in closets & etc....any advice would be greatly appreciated! - Click here to read the answer
