Dog skin rash around genitalsOur dog, 1yo neutered female Pitt Bull Terrier, seems to have sensitive skin, possibly allergies. When we first got her we would notice what seemed to be insect bites swell up and the mark would not leave for quite some time. However it did not seem to bother her, so as i said before we figured she simply had sensitive skin. Anyhow she seemed to be okay throughout most of the winter, however recently it seems like what looks like bite marks have turned into a rash of some sort. It doesn't seem to bother her however I would like to do whatever possible to ellimate this problem. We have discussed this with our vet in the past and it was discussed that she probably does have sensitve skin. I was just wondering what advise you might be able to give us to help eliviate this problem with our baby girl. I would like to also add that this rash is in her genital region and is spreading upwards.
Dog from suspect puppy millThis puppy (7mo German Short Haired Pointer, female) was advertised in the paper. When I went to get her, I discovered she had spent her short life inside a 2ft x 2ft cage with one of her littermates with very limited human contact. At first, she was terrified of us. Now she doesn't cower in fear, but she wants to do nothing but lie down and/or sleep. She has gotten up and walked around a little bit, but only when no one else is around. The minute a person walks into the room, she lays back down. I cannot get into the vets office until Monday to have her checked out. She does not appear to be malnourished, she just lacked human attention. What is the best thing I can do to help her until I see the vet on Monday? Thank you.
Dog making weird sounds in throatWell my dog (2yo mixed breed female neutered) has this weird sound in her throat and she coughs and tries to throw up but the problem is mostly in her throat what may she have?
Dog throwing upMy 5yo female neutered Terrier dog has thrown up three times these last two days. She also wheezes when she breaths as if she had a stuffy nose and shivers uncontrollably as if she were cold. I try to cover her up and keep her warm but she still shivers. She seems weak. What can I do to make her better??
Dog with bump on headMy puppy (4mo female Australian Shepherd) has a goose egg shaped lump on the top of her head. It feels like bone and does not seem to bother her. It has always been there, however, it seems to be getting bigger as she grows. My vet is not concerned with it and she said she has seen it before, but did not remember the correct name for it. I'm not too sure about this I would like a second opinion. I would appreciate any info on this. Thank you very much.
Dog with liver diseaseI have taken my pet dachshund (11yo female neutered) to the vet and she said that the bloodwork showed liver disease. The only symptoms that she has shown, however, is excessive water drinking. The vet said that after taking some pills for a few weeks, and switching over to a specialty dog food, things should get better. I would just like to know what another vet's opinion is. For example, with symptoms this mild, what is the average number of dogs that you see fully recover? How likely is a full recovery? Can this shorten the lifespan of the dog, even if treatment is working? How do dogs get it? Since my sister has a female dashound as well (both dogs live in the same house and drink from the same dishes/interact), can liver disease be passed between them? For example, if her dog had it first, is it possible that my dog was infected with it from her (ie is liver disease contagious)? Is it contagious to humans? If my dog is treated but comes my sister's dog have liver disease (assume) will my dog stay sick (ie keeps catching it from the other dog)? |

Cat losing hair with itchy skin
About a month ago my female neutered Siamese mix cat lost all the shine in her coat of long hair, and refuses to come into the house, preferring to remain in the garage. She is shedding her hair and it comes out in big clumps. The skin on her back near her tail is flaking off, like large dandruff, and the hairs have tiny black things on them near the base. This area is very itchy and when it is touched, she goes into an involuntary biting spasm. She also has small scabs on her skin spread all over her body. - Click
