Dog eating Hersheys chocolateMy shitzu (male neutered 11mo) just ate a hersheys chocolate kiss and I know dogs are suppose to have chocalate, I read where it can kill little dogs, is he gonna die what can I do? I gave him a biscuit and he's been drinking lots of water.
Puppy with small patches of hair lossLast week, I washed my puppy (6mo male American PittBull) with a medicated(flea and tick) shampoo that was supposed to be for kittens and cats. Know I have noticed he has two large sores on his left front leg and a group pf small red listers on his inner thigh and one small patch on his upper chest. Did he have an allergic reaction? I have been applying sulfadene was this the right choice?
Dog eating own poopOur dog (6mo Labrador Retriever female) eats her own poop very often. is this normal? I heard that it may be an indication that she is lacking certain nutrients in her diet. We feed her iams puppy food-lamb and rice meal. She also eats the cats poop. She spends days outside in the yard and is inside with us evening and night. She is completely up to date with her shots. She is a normal, healthy, playful dog....we are just concerned about her choice in snacks....poop! Thank you in advance for your help.
Dog with lump near rumpLast week after picking my dog (2yo Shih Tzu, male neutered) up from the groomer, I noticed a red lump above his left back leg, closer to bum. I brought him to the vet the next day and was told that it was not normal and was either a wart or a tumor. The vet gave me a cream to apply 3 times a day. It has been almost a week now and the bump is still red and seems to be a little bigger. I have been on the internet looking up lumps on dogs but have been unable to find any information on red lumps. I am very worried and was wondering if I should you had some information for me.
Dog dribbling urine and repeated bladder infectionsMy pup-Lizzy(5months old, mixed Beagle, female neutered) - has had a bladder infection almost constantly since we got her. Took her to vet and he gave her antibiotic-Metronidazole 250mg.1/2 tab evry 12 hrs.-was mild..didn't work. Took her back he gave her much stronger antibiotic-Primor 120mg.1.5 tabs a day. she STILL has the bladder infection..seems to have gotten SOME better briefly but worsen again. She "dribbles" every time you call her, stop to pick her up, or scold her..thus making it impossible SO FAR to house train her....When we do take her out to void, she has a tad bit of mucus in her urine. no blood. WHAT CAN WE DO..and WHAT IS the PROBLEM? (she doesn't seem to have any fever, seems energetic for a while..like maybe 2 hours spells, then naps, then feels good again..eats well..so her symptons..other than her dribbling...are non-existent.) PS..even though I have wondered whether she was hurt when spayed(she was spayed a few days before we got her)..I have wondered if there may have been a surgical "accident"-slip of instrument-- into the bladder.??? There are no marks or scars and seem fine in that area through.
Dog with clear skin lumpsWe recently found a clear sac between the size of a piece of corn and a single pea on the neck of our dog filled with a clear liquid. (We also found a second, much smaller, 1/8-1/4 size of the first) on his side above his right leg. We took him to the vet, who aspirated it and set it off for analysis, and reported back that there were no cells found in the liquid at all, and that the pathologist listed 4 possible dx's, which I can't remember but can get for you, only 1 of which may be benign. (By the way, the smaller one had already burst when we got there and appeared to be healing over as a flake much like dandruff with a tiny small black dot in the center--it seemed ready to fall off completely at any time.) She sugested a biopsy during his next dental cleaning, but his teeth really don't need cleaning and she's talking about $500 US for both procedures, which I really can't afford right now unless it's absolutely necesary. I'm asking you as a second opinion. We will of course keep watch for any others and would proceed if they continue, but is surgury necessary here? I asked about removing it locally (at least the small one, and would be $200). Please advise and thank you for your time. ps. the possiblities are: cyst adenoma apocrine cyst basil cell (malignant or non) Thanks |

Dog afraid of thunder
Our 8yo English Setter (female neutered) in the past 2 years has developed a fear of thunder. She will try to dig the carpet, trembles violently and will jump on our laps to be comforted. Our male Setter doesn't mind the thunder a bit. I don't like the idea of using sedatives for her. Do you have any solutions? - Click
