Dog with bloody urineI have a 1 1/2 year old Pug. About 2 months ago I noticed small drops of blood after he got done urinating. I immediately took him to the vet where they collected a urine sample and tested it. It came out fine, no infections. The vet told me to watch it and if it doesn't go away to call him and they would do an xray. Well, the blood would come and go. Sometimes nothing, other times blood. Tuesday morning he had blood again after not noticing any for the last couple days. He had an xray yesterday, but showed no stones etc. The dr took another sample of urine to run a culture on it. The blood only appears after he is done urinating...only 2-4 drops. Sometimes light, sometimes dark....sometimes not at all. Do you have any idea what could be causing this? My dr says I might have to take him to a specialist.
Puppy sudden deathI must start from the beginning so you know all of the circumstances. I have 2 cats, 1 three, female and 1 male, about a year. I have one ferret probably 6 months old. I live with my 9 year old daughter and my boyfriend. I bought the Pug, "Pugsy" from a breeder a couple of days before christmas. The puppy wasn't quite 6 weeks old and was the last of the litter. I met the lady in a parking lot because she lived far away from me. I fell in love with the puppy instantly and of course bought it. I took the puppy to work with me every day and so she was constantly in my sight. One night I went to a seminar and left her at the house and the next morning I took her to the vet and her leg was broken... back leg. They thought that it would heal better on its own versus doing a sugical procedure on it. Anyway that seemed to be going fine. Last week I left my Pug at home with my boyfriend, 2 cats, ferret and my mom's pug who I have been pug sitting. When I got home from work the puppy's eye was blood shot and she was laying around a lot. I figured she was just traumatized or something. Friday there was no change in her condition not worse not better. I left for Orlando saturday morning leaving the puppy with the 3year old pug, 2 cats, ferret, and my boyfriend. My daughter went with me. My boyfriend called me at 4:00 in the morning on Sunday while I was in Orlando and told me that my puppy had died. I told him to bury it before I got home because I couldn't bear to see it dead. Do you think that the cats or ferret could have scratched in the eye and then it got sick from it? Do you have any idea what would have caused its death if not that? Do ferrets carry diseases like rats? My boyfriend was gone all day Sat. and late into the night. He checked the puppy (it was in it's cage) when he got home and that is when he found it. I am extremley upset over it's death as I had been wanting a baby pug for several years. I just want to understand why it died.
Dog with loose stoolsMy 9mo male West Highland White puppy has been experiencing loose stool for about 5 days now. He eats only Eukanuba Puppy food. He is acting completely normal and seems very happy. He has had 2 accidents inside his crate. Usually he is ok for up to 7 hrs in it. The accidents have occured after about 4 hrs in the crate.
Puppy lethargic and has diarrhea after vaccinationJust a quick question, my beagle puppy got a distemper shot today and then tonight began to act very lethargic and had diarrhea. Are these side effects of the shot, and is the area around the shot very sensitive? I ask this because my wife tried to lift the puppy and it began to yelp and seemed to be favoring its left front leg........strange, because the shot was given to her in her shoulder area. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Bone cancer in dogMy 9yo male neutered Golden Retriever dog died 11/18 this year. He had bone cancer when I got him. His general health held up well under my holistic vet (I also had a regular vet for him). He had a robust appetite, clear eyes, great attitude, loved going for walks even with his bum leg. A few days ago, I had an appointment with my holistic vet and she prescribed some phosphorous for him. Right after giving him the phosphorous he lost his appetite completely and began to have severe breathing problems with coughing. My question - in your opinion could the phosphorous have caused a cardiac condition, in addition to the loss of appetite (which my holistic vet admits could happen) or was it just coincidental. I'm not out to cause any trouble I just want to know for the future. I have 3 other dogs that I don't want to make a mistake with if they need help down the line. |

Dog eating Starburst candy
I know this sounds like a weird question but will Starburst candy hurt a bassett hound? She's a 1yo female neutered Bassett.
