Dog eating ice cubes

Our dog loves to chew and eat ice cubes and has been doing so for years. Is there any problem giving ice cubes to our dog?

Snorting dog with wet nose

My dachshund dog is in generally good health and just went for his shot updates 2 weeks ago - I've been noticing that his nose is EXTREMELY cold and sometimes is very wet(even sometimes drippy),but with clear discharge. He also makes a noise upon inhalation sometimes when he breathes (not "snort-like"), but have also had that checked by our vet who told me that this breed has a "gland" in their throat that can make this noise. He is active and eating well - should I be concerned about this "respiratory" thing or not ?

Malfunctioning dog shock collar

The dog has been trained and hunted quail with a shock collar. The dog performs extremely well and rarely does the shock collar have to be used. While hunting today, I lost track of the dog for a period of 5-8 minutes. When I looked at the transmitter, it appeared to have malfunctioned and the stimulator button was stuck. I immediately turned the transmitter off and began to look for the dog. When I found him, he was sitting up holding his left paw in the air as though he had been hurt. I pet the dog and removed the shock collar. I attempted to get the dog to stand up. He began to whimper and cry and bit my hand several times. This was not out of viciousness but what appeared to be pain. The dog would not walk. He was muzzled carried to the dog trailer and placed in a compartment. The muzzle was taken off. The dog was checked on periodically. He seemed to be drooling excessively. On a leash the dog will walk but will not put left front foot down. However, you can pet and move his left leg all around and he exhibits no pain what so ever. The leg has been rubbed and felt of and there is no swelling. The dog does not mind having the leg touched. He will not walk unless on a leash. We are unsure if excessive electrical shock could create these symptoms. Our question is: If the shock created the problem, will the dog get over it and is it treatable?

Dog with odd shaped testicle

When we purchased our male pomeranian he had retained one testicle. The breeder was not sure if it "would drop" Around 6 months old we had him at the vet for shots and asked about it. The vet said it had dropped. She had me feel and I could feel two small ovals. The day before yesterday I had his under belly shaved at the groomers and noticed with the naked eye that his testicles were not the same shape. I felt and the one that looked odd. It felt like the origional oval along with about another half of oval this oval was distinctly additional. We now live on Ramstein Air Base in Germany. Our local vet is the military vet that treats the police dogs. It is very hard to get in with the recent world events. Is this normal, what could it be, and should I not wait for an opening at my local vet and look for a German Vet to take a look at this. It will take me about a month to get him in on the military base.

Dog losing pigmentation on lips

A few months ago my dog started to lose the hair under her chin. The hair has since started to come back however, the pigmentation in this area and the lip area has turned pink. It seems that she is losing the pigmentation in her skin in this area. I took her to my vet and he said he had never seen this before but thought it was allergy related. She has always been a "paw chewer", but the loss of color in the skin is concerning. Have you ever heard of anything like this, and if so is it allergy or age related?

Add to Female cat with bloody discharge from vagina
Our (1yo female DSH) neutered cat (neutered prior to our ownership) has had intermittent small volume bloody discharge from her vagina for the last 3 months. On exam her vulva had an ulcerated area and our veternarian is planning an exam under anesthesia later this week. She has no weight loss, a healthy appetite, and has had no change in activity. She is the only animal in our home. What do you believe this could be? - Click here to read the answer
