Dog with red blisters on lipsWithin the last three days or so I've noticed that my dogs lips that are normally black are turning pink. They have also become raw and red like almost blisters in small spots. What could that be? How do I treat it?
Stains on dog furMy 10 month old English bulldog has begun to develop reddish/brown stains around his mouth area, mostly under his chin. In addition, there are reddish, brown stains underneath him as well, near the belly button area and the hind leg area. Also, I find that his discharge from the eye area are also light brown in color. He takes vitamins (Canine red cell) every day....this is red in color. Could this be causing the staining? If not, do you have any idea what could be doing this? How can I get rid of it? (the staining is mainly on the white portion of his fur)
Overweight dogMy 8yo shihtzu should weigh 8kgs(she has a small frame) but weighs 13.5kgs. She limps so I have been giving her Winston's Joint Formula for 3 months. It hurts her to exercise and she acts hungry all the time. I need suggestions on helping her to lose the excess weight. She doesn't have any other health problems that I know of.
Dog ingesting drain cleanerMy dog ingested a small amount of diluted drain cleaner that had overflowed from the toilet. He shows no signs of being ill, but I am just concerned and nervous. What should I do?

Cat bloated and acting out of character
I am writing about my cat - He is a 4 year old male neutered DSH who lives indoors but does have access to the outdoors. I am on a tight budget right now and am curious to know if the symptoms he has been showing for the past 2 days need to be checked by a vet. I am more than happy to pay the vet fees, but because of money issues right now, I need to know if his condition warrants it or not. The symptoms:
Yesterday, Chucky appeared very bloated and uncomfortable. He meowed everytime I walked into the room, with a very pathetic cry. He didn't eat or drink or use his litter box, and didn't move very much. He didn't shiver or any other indication of pain, except for his meowing.
Today, Chucky appears still very bloated but is not meowing and again doesn't like he's in pain. He hasn't eaten much of anything(he did try)or used his litter box, he still hasn't moved much, and he's been sitting on the floor staring into space. About an hour ago, he went and stuck one paw into the dog's water bowl, then stuck his entire head under the water. It doesn't appear that he is drinking, but just has his head under the water. This is totally new behavior for him - he usually wants to drink out of the faucet in the kitchen sink. About 45 minutes ago, he did manage to jump up onto the kitchen counter, where he sat with his face under the running water - again, not appearing to drink, but almost like he was just cooling off. He sat that way for probably a half hour. I know that hairballs could be an issue, so I am going to try some hairball removal gel, if he'll eat it. What do you think?
