Sadie is a female mixture of Husky, Shepard and what have you. She is 4 ½ years old and weighs about 65 pounds. She is a very well trained dog and heels perfectly when commanded to. She sprained her right rear leg two months ago. She walked three legged so the vet took X-rays and gave her an antibiotic plus Rimadyl. It has healed completely with no after affects other than a slightly enlarged hock. TODAYS PROBLEM: Several days ago she started to run but stopped after only ten yards, pulling up lame on her left rear leg. She immediately took her "heel" position and would not leave my side. Although she had NOT walked three legged she lifts it on occasion to take the weight off. She also acts like she gets a sharp pain for an instant. I am more concerned that she is listless and does not seem herself. She doesn't look out the widow like normal (usually for hours) but instead sleeps on the floor by my feet. When I take her out she just assumes the "heel" position and will not leave my side to sniff, run, or play. Today she seemed a little constipated although not impacted. She defecated a little walked a bit, defecated again, and did the same a third time. Each time part of the movement appeared very dry. Her appetite is normal. Do you have any suggestions?

Vet question of the day

Add to Beta fish with bulge on chest
My betta fish has developed what appears to be a huge bulge on his chest. It starts right after his little front fins and continues to his tail. Almost as if he's really fat. (I don't overfeed him though) His skin is so stretched the bulge is white. The poor guy is so top heavy and I see him laying on the bottom with his head down and his tail facing up. Also, he has lost some of his color on the rest of his body (it's faded) and has little white spots on him. I tried Ick treatment for the spots at the recommendation of the pet store but it doesn't seem to have helped and the bulge is getting bigger. I'm afraid to change his water because I don't want to make anything worse. I'm very afraid he's going to die. He still seems to be eating and swims around actively, but I know something is seriously wrong. Thank you. - Click here to read the answer
