Dog with collapsed trachea
My dog (5yo female neutered Pekingnese) has been diagnosed at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston, to have a collapsed trachea. I understand this is common with the brachycephalic breeds. Her trachea collapse is on the end of the trachea closest to her heart and lungs, and exhibits on her exhale. She is otherwise extremely healthy and active and only rarely does this condition seem to slow her down. I have seen other Pekes, Pugs, French bulldogs that are affected much more than she is, who also appear to be active and not too affected by the condition. My question is this: Will her collapsed trachea degenerate further as she gets older, or does the area of the trachea affected by collapse generally remain the same throughout the lifetime of the dog. What signs should I look for to know if her condition is changing? Is there any help for her? |

Dog digging carpet
My dog (5yo female neutered Blue Heeler mix) is outside during the day and inside at night. I've only had her for 6 months- I got her from a friend. During the past month, she started scratching at our carpets ruining them. She only scratches them around the walls never in middle of the floor. Why is she doing this and what can I do to get her to stop?
