Winky  (2yo male neutered Yorkshire terrier) was treated with amoxicillin for 2 wks following a sudden onset of what seemed to be penile irritation. The sx started the evening after a day we took a long walk in the woods. That night he would go to play and would suddenly sit down and lick,  It got to the point where he wouldn't walk w/out sitting and licking and generally appearing distressed.  The following morning he wouldn't urinate so I took him to the vet. His urine was neg for infection but she felt he may have irritated it during the walk and so put him on the antibiotics.  Symptoms were relieved in 2-3 days.  Last pill was fri but fri night i noticed he took a very long time to pee and so I started watching him.  He seems to be straining and only urinates small puddles.  He is eating drinking playing and otherwise seems fine....no licking this time.  My original question was do I take him to the emergency vet today or wait to see my own tomorrow but since he is peeing (if only small amts) and seems fine otherwise I decided to wait.  do you have any thoughts on what this could be?  I have 3 yorkies and he is my stoic one so I'm very concerned .  I love my dogs like kids and have to fight a tendency to over-react but there is definitely something going on.  Thanks so much for the follow up on the problem I was having...it occurred after filling out the whole form and question.... when I would click the submit button, a new screen would come up saying unauth. domain.  I don't know what that means.

Vet question of the day

Add to Cat recovering from hepatic lipidosis-fatty liver disease
My Silver Tabby (8yo female neutered) is now recovering nicely, from Hepatic Lipidosis, and is eating and drinking on her own.She now weighs 8 pounds, and is active and playful.I can feel her ribs, but they have a covering of fat, so I'm wondering, is this a good weight for her? She eats about a quarter of a cup of Feline Iams Adult Maintenance a day, and that has recently increased a bit.Is that enough? Most of the time when I'm at work, she sleeps, and is active in the evening. Thanks! - Click here to read the answer
