cat with fluid in lungs
This kitten (6mo domestic short hair female) has ever since her accident and as long as we've had her, had fluid on her lungs. She breaths struggled (too fast) and has cough attacks, both presumably from the fluid. The vet has taken x-rays and given her anti-biotics for a couple of weeks and a fluid we have given her through the mouth to drain the fluid away. She has been in and out of the vets, with prognosis differing every time. Last week they seemed optimistic and said to stop anti-b. and half dosage on the fluid thing. I thought she seemed worse a couple of days after this, and now at the check up the vet thinks so too. The vet has given up now, and thinks there is nothing to do, even though they don't know what is wrong with her yet. Other than this problem the kitten seems fine. She is happy and awake, she eats, drinks, goes toilet, plays and so on. Her gums are nice and pink. I would like to know if you have any suggestions to what they problem might be or if you think it can be fixed, and if we should take the kitten to a different vet. I am worried this vet is not doing enough, or at least not the right things. I don't want to have to put the kitten down, I love her allready. I can“t give up on her on the basis of fluid in her lungs, surely there must be something causing this, and if we knew what we could maybe fix it..Is this a common injury for cats, and do some of them make it through? The x-ray apparantly is milky or cloudy, the vet says she can't see much in them. |

Feline Leukemia Virus - getting a new cat after another one has died from FeLV
My cat of old died a month ago from Feline Leukemia. The wife and I are thinking of getting a new kitten soon. How long should we wait before getting one? We don't want the kitten to get it too. We've steamcleaned the carpets and cleaned the house as much as we could. Is there anything else we should be doing? - Click
