Frequently Asked Questions About Ask the Vet services
Below are a few frequently asked questions about the ask a vet service.
- Why would I want to use Ask the vet services?
I can provide prompt answers to your everyday pet health questions in a more thorough fashion. How many times have you had pet questions that have disturbed you but you find that your local vet is unavailable to chat? That's why I set up Ask-the-vet.com it provides a one-to-one service which helps explain diseases in simple easy to understand language.
- So what's the difference between the "Ask the online vet a question" section and the "monthly
membership" question?
I've found that the most economical option for most pet owners is to opt for the monthly membership because it allows you to ask as many questions as you would like about your pet (or other pets in your household). If you only have 1 question to ask, then by all means use the "one question" section.
- What's the turnaround time for Ask the vet?
I will respond to your question within 24 hours of receipt of your question. The only time I won't be able to is if the email system fails me eg server goes down. Please if you don't receive a response within 24 hours, do send me another email to tell me that you have not received a response. There have been some occasions (especially when computer viruses were rife) where I have replied to customers but they never got my response because the email response was 'caught' in their filters and deemed to be spam and hence deleted. Rest assured that I WILL NOT take your money without giving you a response.
- Can I ask any questions I like about my pet?
Currently I only provide answers to pet questions relating to dogs, cats, pocket pets eg rats, mice, rabbits, guinea pigs, fish, birds. Large animal questions are welcome but I am not terribly familiar with them so I would suggest you try elsewhere for veterinary information. Have a look at the ask the vet sample question for ideas about what to expect and what sort of questions you can ask.
- Can I ask you for a second opinion on my vet's diagnosis?
You certainly can. However, given the limitations of the ask the vet service (I cannot examine your pet nor do I have access to any diagnostic equipment), I cannot honestly say that I am in a better position than your vet to diagnose the disease condition your pet has. I can certainly shed light on the other possibilities that could be ailing your pet but I cannot second guess what your vet should've done because in my mind ALL vets are here to provide the best care they can for your pet given the circumstances.
- What if my pet is sick and I need urgent veterinary advice?
It is not a part of ask the vet to provide emergency advice regarding your pet. If your pet is seriously ill or has an immediate health concern, seek treatment from your local veterinarian IMMEDIATELY. This service is only for non-emergency pet health questions or issues.
- What if I am not happy with the response I get from Ask the vet?
Unlike other ask the vet online services, I provide a 7 day money back guarantee. If for any reason you aren’t satisfied with my response, I will return your money no questions asked.
- Am I assured that I will not get spam as a result of using Ask the vet services?
YES YES YES. I detest spam. I will never sell or divulge your email address to any other party. Your email address will only be used by the credit card company (or Paypal) to send you a confirmation receipt of payment and by me to send you a response.
- How does payment process work?
You opt to pay by Paypal or Paysystems. You will get redirected to their payment site and once you have completed payment will get taken to an email form. If for some reason you can't get to the form email to ask your question, you can ask your question by sending me an email. Upon receipt of confirmation of your payment, I will then respond to your question.

Dog digging carpet
My dog (5yo female neutered Blue Heeler mix) is outside during the day and inside at night. I've only had her for 6 months- I got her from a friend. During the past month, she started scratching at our carpets ruining them. She only scratches them around the walls never in middle of the floor. Why is she doing this and what can I do to get her to stop?
