Looking for pet toys for your favorite pet?  Whether your pet is a dog or cat, you will find pet toys that will suit their taste and temperament here.

From a vet's point of view, pet toys are great for entertaining your dog/cat and to keep them fit and healthy, but there are hazards.  Some pet toys are swallowed inadvertently and you will end up with having to take your dog/cat into the vet for removal of the toy.  Common pet toys that are problematic are golf balls - these often get swallowed by dogs chasing them and there has been one reported case of a dog having 14 golf balls in his stomach and lived to tell the tale.  Golf balls are also an additional hazard because if it gets punctured as the dog chews on it, the liquid inside it is poisonous.  Knitting yarn is the 'pet toy' that is most hazardous to cats.  Kittens will chew on yarn and swallow it, the problem is when some of it gets entangled on their tongue and the rest of the yarn can't go through the bowels.  They will get very sick with this condition if not treated promptly, so the advice is to keep knitting yarn well away from curious felines.

I particularly like pet toys that have additional entertainment value - eg like Kong toys with the feature of having a treat embedded inside to encourage your dog to 'play' and get rewarded at the same time.

Dog toys
