betta fish not eating
I have a 2yo Betta fish that has been sick for months. He had signs of external parasites (stringy fungus on body) and popeye. Both have gone away. Treated with Maracide and Aquarisol. He continued to be lethargic and would rarely eat so I treated him with a course of Ampicillin for possible internal parasites. After 10 days on the antibiotic, showed no signs of improvement. He is now on no medication and has no sign of external parasites but is still clearly quite ill. He has not eaten a bite in almost three weeks. He swims around very little and occasionally flares at the neighboring Betta, but will not eat. I had his water tested and it is perfect. I keep his bowl very clean and have been trying hard to coax him into eating. My question is what should I do? I’ve been considering euthanizing him as I cannot stand the thought of him starving to death. I can’t help but wonder if there is a medication I haven’t tried that might help. Your advice would be so appreciated. I’ve been trying for months to cure him.

cat losing voice and depressed
My Cat (5yo male neutered domestic short hair) has for the past 4.75 years always lived in a flat and has never been outside. I have recently moved to a ground floor house with internal courtyard so he can go outside. About 1 month ago I got a female kitten of 8 weeks in age. He has grown used to her and tolerates her. My sister has just arrived from Britain and has a one year old boy and I think that the adult cat has become jealous. Last Sunday night he ventured to see me and went to miaow but has lost his voice. He also vommited clear mucas, but it has now stopped. He still has no voice and is slowly losing his appetite, but I notice him still eating a little, drinking a little and I have noticed some small stools in his cat tray. He seems to not want my company and is afraid of me all of a sudden. I am worried as he is usually a very vocal cat and now he seems to have a sore throat. He also seems very down in the dumps and sad and I cannot figure out what is bothering him. He has not vomitted since Monday night, but sometimes it seems as if he wants to cough something up. The first time he brought up mucas it had some hair in it but the second time round no. He does not seem to be in pain as I can rub his throat and he doesn’t seem to mind. Do you have any advice as to what may be wrong. I am taking him to the vet today but I would like as much information as possible. He is short haired cat but he has a lot of hair and now he is starting to malt so I will start brushing now. Any information would be very much appreciated as I am very worried about him, he seems rather depressed.

breeding great danes
My Great Dane “Dottie” is 18 months old and has yet to come into season. She is a piebald, and I was wondering a couple of things. 1. If she’s sterile will she come into season at all? and 2. Is 18 months normal for a great dane to not have come into season already? Since they are a bigger breed does it take longer for them to mature? Are there any tests that can confirm or deny sterility?

My dog, Max (10yo Lab mix male neutered), has diarrhea and keeps trying to vomit (unsucessfully). He cannot get comfortable, and is panting. What remedies would you recommend?

cat losing voice
Tumbleweed (7yo mixed breed male neutered) use to meow all the time, he sounded like a foghorn. The about 8 weeks ago, he started sounding hoarse, and has now stopped mewoing all together. But he now has a really bad wheese, and sometimes a snorting sound when he breathes. I’m not sure if the 2 are connected in any way. If not, he sounds like he has a bad chest cold. I’m really worried about him. Thanks for any ideas, I thought asthma, heck i’ve thought everything. I’m so worried, and i’m at nt b/fs house, not home, or i’d taken him to my vet there, but nervous about taking him to a Canadian vet. Know that sounds silly. Thanks again for your time.
